All,
SW CoPPA – Complex Transfers – 19 July 2018
We are pleased to invite you to a SW CoPPA event on Complex Transfers, hosted by Bevan Brittan LLP in their Bristol office in only 3 weeks' time.
The event will be discussing the practical and legal issues involved in transferring a complex or challenging, vulnerable service users. This could be from hospital to a placement, between hospitals or between placements - and often involves a change in geographic location. SW CoPPA has arranged for a private provider who specialises in these difficult transfers to speak about the options that are available on a practical level and District Judge Avis to discuss the issues that concern the Judges when they are asked to authorise restrictive interventions to support the transfers - such as restraint or sedation (including covertly). I will be presenting on the evidence you would need and the types of Court Order to obtain.
As well as legal representatives, ALRs, Rule 1.2 representatives and advocates - this event will be of interest to discharge teams, commissioners, private care providers, care co-ordinators, those working in transitioning children to adult services, community teams, housing providers and those working in social care teams. Please feel free to forward the invitation to any case manager, care co-ordinator or social working colleagues - or any private care providers who you know might be supporting such service users.
We have attached an invitation with all of the details.
