The regional committee represents CoPPA on the Court users meeting for the regional Hub the meetings are convened in Manchester under His Honour Judge Butler’s careful chairmanship. If you are a member and have any issue that you are keen to raise then do contact our committee and we will seek to represent your views. We practice a problem solving approach to our representation of the membership on any committee. We endeavour to come forward with a solution to any difficulty rather than a complaint about it. If you have any ideas to improve practice in the northwest region or if you have ideas for seminars that you think will help your practice area, then please feel free to email the idea through to our general email address or any one of us. If it is easier you are most welcome to speak to us directly about issues relating to CoPPA when you see us in the courts, at seminars, conference, meetings or out and about during the working day.
Our seminars cover a range of topics within the remit of the MCA including recent case law developments & updates and how this may affect your practice, opportunities to speak to/engage in discussions with a range of experts that work in both property and affairs as well as health & welfare.
The multi-disciplinary forum makes our membership relatively unique in the field of metal capacity practice. We are most fortunate to have expert witnesses, medics, advocates, deputies, and lawyers as part of the northwest regional membership. All COP and Mental Capacity Act practitioners in the northwest are most welcome to join us. Just follow the ‘sign me up’ link to the upper right of the page.
Membership of CoPPA is dealt with by the CoPPA committee which means all subscriptions are paid to the national group but membership covers all regional attendance
If you have any enquiries about the CoPPA North West group, please contact us on:
The northwest region is managed by the national committee. The committee is comprised of barristers, solicitors, deputies, a independent mental capacity advocate and approved mental health nurse/mental capacity assessor. All of whom work daily in the Court of Protection and apply the Act and codes regularly in their practice.Get Involved.
